Photography is my creative outlet.
I was working in an IT department when my boss introduced me to photography back around 2003. At the time it was film photography and I had very little understanding around the relationship with ISO, aperture and shutterspeed. Many times getting my prints back completely dark as I made mistakes on the lighting, basically shooting in auto mode and hoping for the best.
I remember the moment when I knew this was a lifelong obsession though. I went to a Red Sox game in hopes of taking some photos of Ichiro Suzuki, my favorite player at the time. When I got to the park, I realized quickly that sitting behind the screen at home plate was rendering auto-focus useless. I switched to manual for the first time but was feeling pretty deflated during the game. Imagine my surprise when I got the photos back from the developer, having received the most beautiful, in focus images, with Ichiro swinging and the Green Monster in the background! I was hooked.
Fast forward 15 years later and I will take my camera everywhere and anywhere. Most often shooting sports photography of my competitive cheerleader daughter as she travels the country with her team, competing in different cities. I will however, take the camera out anytime and just take some landscape photos, or simply use photography to document a day with the family. And you’ll find all my notes and photos here. Enjoy.
